Selling products online at auction or on your own website is not very difficult, you just need to know how to get started.  There are a few rules you need to follow and your business will be up and running. 

Make sure you know which products are in demand.  I like selling on eBay so I want to know which items are in demand on eBay.  If they are in demand on eBay then most likely they will be in demand across the board.  I use eBay Pulse to find out the hot products in various categories on eBay.  This tool is free on eBay and allows you to see the top 10 searches within a given category on eBay.  So for example, if you want to sell dog supplies then you can find out what are the ten most searched for items within the dog supply category.

After you determine what you want to sell you will need to find wholesalers for that product or dropshippers.  There are many scam artist on the internet for wholesale schemes and drop ship schemes so be careful.  I prefer to use a reliable dropshipper, because I can sell the product before I have to buy the product.

Another advantage of using a drop shipping company is that you don’t have to inventory or ship the product yourself.  You can focus on selling product.  Another advantage is that you can test which products sell best before buying the product.  For example, I could list a dog treat for sale on eBay for only the listing cost.  If it sells then I just place the order with my drop ship company and they deliver it to my customer.  If it doesn’t sell then I don’t have to buy the product and I only have spent the money for the eBay listing.  This method allows me to try many products to see which ones people actually will buy.
